Born and raised in Macon, GA, Michele Zdanowicz spent over two decades as an elementary school teacher before finding her calling in the sleep and mattress industry. After helping Georgia schools raise over $350,000 through mattress fundraisers, she combined her love for sleep, people, and quality products to launch Direct Ship Mattresses, a boutique-style store built on honesty, comfort, and community.

Michele is married to retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Eric Zdanowicz, and together they enjoy life with their children, grandchildren, and two fur babies — Nova the cat and Xena the German Shepherd.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
Born and raised in Macon, GA, Michele Zdanowicz (Williams) graduated from Macon's Southwest HS in 1989 and earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree and a Master's Degree, both in Education, from Georgia College and State University. After over 20 years as an elementary school teacher, Michele started working in the mattress and sleep industry selling mattresses and sleep accessories with Custom Fundraising Solutions Atlanta South. In that capacity she helped raise Georgia Schools over $350,000 through the "original mattress fundraiser." Being a self-proclaimed "mattress snob" and passionate about sleep, Michele started Direct Ship Mattresses, LLC in Locust Grove, GA to help others get a better mattress and a better night's sleep. "There is no reason why someone should sleep on junk! Sleep is so important to everything we do: work, family, relationships, even recreation. A good night's rest improves all of that and more. But I wanted to do it in an environment that was warm, inviting, and friendly -- a sleep boutique. Who likes going to a mattress store? No one! I wanted my boutique to be some place you were comfortable in and felt welcome, just like your favorite neighborhood boutique."
Michele is married to retired US Air Force Master Sergeant Eric Zdanowicz, MBA. She has 3 beautiful children and a wonderful bonus daughter as well as a grandson and a second on the way. Michele is also mom to two fur babies, a cat name Nova (short for Casanova) and a German Sheppard, Xena.
